TSF (TEACHING SUSTAINABLE FASHION)
The Build a bag event was a great success, the environment was perfectly curated and it was a joy to be around artists of various degrees! See what the people are saying!
S.E.W (Sustainable and Empowerment Workshop) is a program designed to empower youth to learn about sustainable fashion and create custom reusable period products. Participants will learn the basics of hand sewing and create reusable period products, such as period underwear or reusable pads, the skills learned could be replicated for personal use as well as entrepreneurial endeavours in the future.

I taught multiple workshops in an unofficial "series".... I so enjoy fixing things :D! These workshops were about creativity and activating it even in the most "apathetic" creatives ( the ones who say "i'm not creative") Both workshops focused on reviving old favorites, but had some basic flat pattern basic projects as well. Some were freestyle projects and others embroidered things! It was a lot of fun to watch the effects of play in a creatively safe environment!

The Jewelry workshop ( not TSF) 4/18

Guiding guests in making simple jewelry and craft..... in Italy :). The objective was less about the making, and more about creating a safe space for creativity in general. The event was held at the International Church of Florence, and I wanted to make the event as INCLUSIVE as possible.

Clothing and accessory trade event 10/17
My first event co-hosted with a good friend and her non profit #st.JustinJeanFoundation. The event involved guests bringing gently used clothing to trade ( for free) with other guests, there was a raffle, photo booth and a DIY TSF worshop for anyone interested. At the end of the night participants donated any unwanted and non traded clothing to the st. Justin Jean Foundation! It was such a loving event! Resourcefulness TSF workshop
Teaching youth, to create jewelry of their choice using my bucket of random things, and what was in the room as well as some tools pliers and jewelry closures. In this picture I am explaining what a “Jump Ring” is and its purpose in connecting jewelry.
Write up from one of the youth interns on the clubhouse blog
“Today at the Computer Clubhouse Angie Brutus joined us for a jewelry making workshop. We started off the experience talking about the benefits recycling, or upcycling, and the positive effects it can have on our community. These same ideas were incorporated into our creations where we took found objects from around the Clubhouse and turned them into personal accessories. Using objects such as pearler beads, broken necklaces, ribbon, and ping pong balls, Angie assisted us members in creating earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and more.
One of the best parts about the experience was the overall message. Angie was teaching us how to make jewelry while teaching us a life lesson. We learned that nothing should be put to waste and creativity is important. We also learned that we can apply these skills to help improve our community, and contribute to a better future, especially environmentally.”

Global Teen summit ( Resourcefulness TSF workshop)
This workshop took place at Northeastern University. Global teen summit hosts youth from Clubhouses around the world. I taught a workshop on resourcefulness, encouraging youth to create their choice of jewelry with a box of random things, scrap plastic pieces donated by the flagship clubhouse, pop-cycle sticks, and even Easter eggs! I was pleasantly surprised to see some of the things that the youth created and took home with them.

Resourcefulness TSF workshop 2013
My First workshop! I showed the girls my works and told them to create some earrings using anything they could find in the room! Some you used foam shapes, some used LED lights, some used beads! I was truly impressed with their resourcefulness!
